Cowgirl Sex Position: Tips and Benefits

Cowgirl Sex Position: Tips and Benefits

Among the most enjoyable sex positions in the book is the cowgirl sex position. It has great benefits especially if you’re a woman who wants to take the lead in the bedroom. Cowgirl sex position or woman on top is a great position if you want to mix things up in bed and give your partner easy access to your clitoris. If done correctly, it can give pleasure to both you and your partner.

How to Do Traditional Cowgirl Sex Position

    1. Stretch out your partner’s legs straight and parallel to each other while they lie on their back.
    2. As you lie on top of your partner, facing their head, you sit straddling on top while your legs straddle your partner’s hips
    3. Insert your partner’s penis into your vagina while sitting up straight.
    4. Penetration can be controlled by the person straddling. Depending on your comfort level, you can choose what feels best to you.

Tips Before Trying Cowgirl Sex Position

Discuss new sexual positions with your partner in advance. Ask your partner how they feel about experiencing new positions.

When you elevate your head and chest, it will be easier to breathe.

    Tips When Trying Cowgirl Position

    Protect Your Knees

Being the “rider” on top can put a lot of strain on your knees and legs. You should use pillows if your knees become sore.

    Lean Forward

When performing cowgirl sex position, you may bend forward slightly over your partner, allowing your clitoris to rub against their pelvis. Instead of bouncing up and down, your hips will rock back and forth in a sliding manner.

Put a pillow under your knees if it feels like the penetration is too deep.

Take Advantage of Your Arms for Support

Try leaning forward so you’re closer to your partner if you’re feeling awkward about being on top. Hold hands with them so they can help you move up and down and control the pace. It will also make a difference if your partner’s back leans against a wall (in a seated position), and you can also use the wall for support.

In addition to providing a sense of security, you can use the wall to provide support for moving up and down or grinding.

First Time Sex: What You Should Know

    Lean Back

Here is another idea: rather than leaning forward, you can also lean back and place your hands on the top of your partner’s thighs for support.

On top of being treated to a great view of your body, your partner has the opportunity to play with your clit, which instantly makes this position more pleasurable.

    Reverse Cowgirl Sex Position

When you do reverse cowgirl, your partner gets to see you from the back while you enjoy the ride. Ensure you don’t bend or break your partner’s penis while you are in this position.

    In performing the reverse cowgirl:

    1. Stretch out your partner’s legs straight while they lie on their back.
    2. Face your partner’s feet by turning around.
    3. Your knees should be on the side of your partner’s legs as you sit straddling them.

    Benefits of Cowgirl Sex Position

This position is ideal for direct clitoral stimulation. This increases the chances of you having an orgasm. The cowgirl position makes it easy for your partner to access your clitoris. This allows your partner to manually stimulate you while providing them pleasure as well.

During sex, straddling your partner offers several benefits. The cowgirl sex position allows the hips to be supported with pillows. Cowgirl position also takes the pressure off knees for the person lying down. For people with back pain, sitting up with their back propped up can make having sex less uncomfortable.

By straddling, the person takes pressure off of their hands, elbows, wrists, and shoulders, while still maintaining intimate contact with their partner. The person on top can also control the penetration speed and depth.

It is also possible to choose which angle you like and how deep the penis goes with the reverse cowgirl option.

When is it a bad idea to use the cowgirl position?

    • When the woman is pregnant
    • Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP)
    • Women with knee problems

In a cowgirl sex position, gravity may not be working in your favor. Sitting or standing upright will only add to the pressure on your pelvic floor during sex which is not ideal if you have POP or if you are pregnant.

    Reminders

The Cowgirl sex position is a great position for women who want to try a more exposed position. This position allows you to stay on top of your partner while they have access to your erogenous zones, especially the clitoris. If done right, it can be pleasurable for both you and your partner.

However, the cowgirl position may not be ideal for everyone. Since this position puts a lot of pressure on the pelvic floor, it may not be ideal for women who have pelvic organ prolapse or women who are pregnant.
