Life with Contraceptive Injections and Pagbubuntis Pagkatapos ng Injectable

Contraceptive injections (Depo-Provera, Sayana Press or Norieterat) release progestogen into your bloodstream, a hormone that stops the release of an egg each month.

It also thickens cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperms to enter the cervix. It also thins out the womb lining, making it hard for a fertilized egg to implant itself.

As long as you are not pregnant, you can receive your contraceptive injection anytime during the duration of your period.

If you received your injection during the first 5 days of your period, you will be immediately protected from becoming pregnant. If you were injected after that 5-day period, you will have to be careful for 7 days or use a condom for protection.

In case you have just given birth, you can receive your injection any time as long as you are not breastfeeding otherwise you will have to wait for 6 more weeks.

Receiving your injection before the 21st day after giving birth will give you immediate protection. If you were given the shot after the 21-day period, you will have to be careful for 7 days or use a condom for protection.

Heavy and irregular bleeding is normal after receiving your contraceptive injection in the first few weeks of giving birth. It is safe to have injectables when you are breastfeeding.

Contraceptive injection is a safe option for protection but in rare cases, some people may develop an allergic reaction to the injectable.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of injectables? Is pagbubuntis pagkatapos ng injectable possible?

Advantages and Disadvantages of Contraceptive Injections

Advantages:

  • An injectable is a great alternative for women who can’t take contraceptive pills consistently.
  • It is 99% effective if used correctly.
  • The effectiveness of the injectable lasts up to 8 or 13 weeks.
  • It’s important to take note of the expiration of the injection to get another dose.
  • If you have medications, it does not have an effect on your injectable.
  • It is a good alternative to estrogen.

Disadvantages:

  • Your period may become shorter, irregular, heavier or lighter, or stop abruptly.
  • You may gain weight, experience headaches, mood swings, bleeding, and breast tenderness.
  • It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections, you may use condoms as added protection.
  • When it comes to pagbubuntis pagkatapos ng injectable, it could take up to one year for your fertility to be normal, so it might take a while if you want to conceive.

Pagbubuntis Pagkatapos ng Injectable

After your contraceptive injection expires, you cannot get pregnant. As soon as 12 to 14 weeks after the last shot, you could become pregnant.

In other cases, there is a possibility that you need to wait a year or two after stopping this type of contraception before you can conceive.

So if you’re planning to get pregnant in the next couple of years, it would help to talk to your doctor about this type of birth control.

The chances of pagbubuntis pagkatapos ng injectable are still high but sometimes you need to wait a little longer.

There is an 80% pregnancy rate past the one-year mark after stopping the injection. There is a 90% pregnancy rate once you exceed the two-year mark after stopping the injection.
