Daflon (diosmin + hesperidin)

Daflon is the brand name of a preparation that contains diosmin and hesperidin. This drug is a venotonic used to treat and prevent symptoms of venous circulation disorders. It is available as a film-coated tablet.

What is Daflon used for?

Daflon is commonly used for the treatment of symptoms related to venolymphatic insufficiency (heavy legs, pain, early morning restless legs) and treatment of functional symptoms related to the acute hemorrhoidal attack.

How should I take Daflon?

Should be taken with food and take at mealtimes.

How do I store Daflon?

This product is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store it in the bathroom or the freezer. There may be different brands that may have different storage needs. That is why it is important to always check the product package for instructions on storage, or ask your pharmacist. For safety, you should keep all medicines away from children and pets.

You should not flush this product down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Additionally, it is important to properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist for more details about how to safely discard your product.

Pregnancy: experimental studies in animals have not demonstrated any teratogenic effect in animals. Furthermore, no adverse effects have been reported to date in humans.

Lactation: in the absence of data concerning excretion into breast milk, breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.

What is the dose for an adult?

  • Venous insufficiency: 1 tablet daily, by mouth
  • Hemorrhoidal attack: 3 tablets daily for four days then 2 tablets daily for three days.

How is Daflon available?

Daflon is available in the following dosage forms and strengths:

  • Film-coated tablet 500 mg, 1000 mg

What should I do in case of an emergency or overdose?

In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services or go to your nearest emergency room.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
