Mylanta is the brand name of a combination of drugs which include aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone.
Aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide are both antacids which work to neutralize excess acid in the stomach. Simethicone is an antiflatulence agents which reduces bloating due to intestinal gas.
Mylanta may not be available in the Philippines at this time. An alternative to consider is Maalox.
Mylanta is commonly used to treat heartburn, hyperacidity, and gas. It may be given to you for other reasons. Talk with the doctor for more information.
Use this medicine as ordered by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.
Take Mylanta after meals and at bedtime or as you have been told by your doctor.
For the chewable tablets, it is important to chew them thoroughly. Do not swallow the tablet or dissolve it in water.
For the liquid dosage form, shake well before each use. Measure liquid doses carefully. For accuracy, use a medical-grade measuring cup not a household spoon.
Mylanta is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store it in the bathroom or the freezer. There may be different brands that may have different storage needs. It is important to always check the product package for instructions on storage, or ask your pharmacist. For safety, you should keep all medicines away from children and pets.
