Anti-Aging Treatment: Options To Look Younger for Longer

If it were only possible, many of us would probably want to look forever young. But since time waits for no one, the next best thing we can do it to try to slow down or even reverse the signs of aging through various products. What anti-aging treatment regimens should you consider to looking younger for longer?

    Anti-Aging Treatment: Your Options

Anti-aging treatments, such dermatologic procedures or topical creams and serums, do not actually stop the aging process. But they may be able to prevent or improve the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots, sagging, and other signs of aging you want to eliminate.

If you’re looking for anti-aging treatment options, consider looking into the following:

    Skin Care Products

We cannot talk about anti-aging treatment without mentioning skin care products that claim to give you a youthful glow. In the store, you might have come across creams, anti-aging serums, masks, or essences saying they can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, lighten dark spots, and even lift the skin.

    anti-aging serums

However, experts caution the public that there’s no “be all and end all” anti-aging treatment. Still, they recommend the following products that are good for the skin:

  • Hydrating moisturizer
  • Mineral sunscreen
  • A good exfoliator
  • A skin care product that contains antioxidants and retinoic acid. Many anti-aging serum brands contain these ingredients.
  • These may not be the typical anti-aging treatments you have in mind, but they prevent “injuries” to the skin that contribute to aging. Using these products as early as possible may better protect your skin from damage through the years.

If you want to use topical products for certain concerns, such as wrinkles or dark spots, it’s best to talk to your dermatologist. Based on your skin type, they will be able to recommend a product that’s right for you.

    Collagen Treatment

Collagen is a huge component of the skin. If you lack collagen, don’t be surprised to experience the signs of aging that transcend wrinkles and skin sagging: you might even develop brittle nails and hair and dull complexion.

Nowadays, there are many ways to have collagen. Since there are a lot of options available in the market, consumers should do their research first or consult a professional when choosing which supplements to take.

There’s also Ultherapy, a non-invasive way of improving wrinkles and sagging skin by stimulating collagen production.

Understanding How to Take Collagen for Better Skin Health

    Chemical Peels

Worried about dark spots and uneven skin tone? Then, a chemical peel might just be the anti-aging treatment for you.

Chemical peeling involves the application of products that stimulate skin turnover. That means the removal of damaged skin on top and the emergence of the newer skin beneath.

Common ingredients of chemical peels are alpha and beta hydroxy acid (AHA and BHA), lactic acid, and glycolic acids. Note that peeling ingredients come in different concentrations, and strong concentrations may be harsh on the skin.

    Intense Pulse Light

You may not associate IPL with anti-aging treatment since it’s a popular hair removal procedure. However, the IPLs offered in spas and dermatology clinics actually improve skin pigmentation and wrinkles.

IPL uses targeted energy to get rid of damaged or pigmented skin, such as  wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and sun-damaged skin. However, there are other newer, more advanced types of laser treatments widely available that are more effective than IPL when it comes to anti-aging.

Important: You may come across “over-the-counter” IPL hair removal or anti-wrinkle devices online. Please proceed with caution since incorrect use may damage your eyes. This is why doctors place a pad over the client’s eyes during IPL sessions.

    What About Antioxidants and Vitamins?

While many skincare products contain antioxidants and vitamins that are good for the skin, the best way to get them is still through a healthy and balanced diet.

Be sure to have a variety of fruits and vegetables within the day as they are great sources of antioxidants and vitamins.

    Additional Reminders

Looking for anti-aging treatment? Start from within. Have a balanced diet, exercise regularly, manage stress, protect yourself from the sun, hydrate, avoid smoking, and get adequate rest.

After all, more than looking youthful, the goal is to enjoy life to the fullest despite the passing years.
