Apply a clay mask
Is this effective? Although clays are strong absorbents, they cannot remove a blackhead that has already formed. Instead, they can suck out all the dirt, oil, and dead skin cells clogging the pore, and they can also control oil production. Additionally, regular use of clay masks cleanses our skin and keeps our pores clear, which helps to prevent blackheads.
Clay-based face masks are more gentle than pore strips, which may peel off a layer of skin. Some clay masks contain sulfur, which aids in the breakdown of dead skin cells and can lessen the appearance of blackheads. However, many people are allergic to sulfur, so if you’ve never used a sulfur product before, it’s a good idea to perform a skin patch test on your arm.
Try charcoal masks
Charcoal is an excellent detoxifier that works deeply in the pores of the skin to pull out dirt and other impurities. There are many wonderful charcoal masks that you can purchase over-the-counter, or you can purchase activated charcoal pills from a drugstore, open the pills, and create your own DIY mask using a mixture of bentonite clay, tea tree oil, honey, or just plain water.
These home remedies may be worth a try. However, if you are experiencing moderate to severe acne, it is still best to consult a professional before starting treatment.
Ask your dermatologist regarding retinol
Retinol promotes skin cell renewal and may also lessen the appearance of wrinkles. If you’re pregnant, you can try using bakuchiol or rosehip oils in place of retinol for similar effects. You can find topical retinoids online or at your local pharmacy or beauty supply store. It should be noted that pregnant women are advised to avoid retinol because excessive amounts can interfere with the development of the fetus. Consult your dermatologist before using any skin care product during pregnancy.
