PhilHealth now has the COVID-19 Home Isolation Benefit Package (CHIBP). It aims to take care of patients who can isolate themselves at home in areas where there are surges. Who can take advantage of this service and what does the package give you? Find out here.
PhilHealth Benefit Package for COVID-19
The COVID-19 Home Isolation Benefit Package (CHIBP) is PhilHealth’s way of helping reduce the spread of the virus and alleviating the stress on the healthcare system, particularly in areas where there are surges.
This PhilHealth Benefit Package for COVID-19 aims to extend help to people who prefer — and have the capacity to — isolate themselves in their homes.
Eligibility
Asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 patients, as confirmed by an accredited doctor via a face-to-face consultation and RT-PCR swab test, will be eligible so long as they can isolate themselves at home.
Home isolation requires that the patient has:
- A separate room for isolation
- A separate toilet and bath
- Good ventilation at home
- The capacity to have their personal needs delivered
The initial consultation needs to be conducted face-to-face because a doctor needs to assess your symptoms. Home isolation is not recommended for patients who exhibit any of the following:
- Fast breathing or difficulty breathing at rest or while speaking
- Fast heart rate
- Chest pain
- Palpitations
- Confusion or altered mental status
- Oxygen saturation of below 90%
Lastly, this PhilHealth Benefit Package for COVID-19 is only available in areas with surges as declared by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
Inclusions
If you’re eligible for this PhilHealth Benefit Package for COVID-19, you’ll have access to the following services:
Consultation and Monitoring Services
CHIBP provides a link between the isolated patient and a healthcare worker. After the initial face-to-face consultation, a healthcare worker will monitor the patient daily for 10 days via phone, text, or video conference.
Referral to a Higher Level Health Institution
The PhilHealth Benefit Package for COVID-19 ensures that should the isolated individual’s symptoms worsen — as reported during daily check-ins — it will be the assigned healthcare worker’s responsibility to refer him or her to a higher-level facility.
CHIBP also ensures that the healthcare worker will help the patient seek in-patient care during an emergency.
Patient and Caregiver Education
This PhilHealth Benefit Package for COVID-19 also helps patients and caregivers learn more about symptoms management, proper isolation, infection prevention and control, and red flags to watch out for.
The healthcare worker would also teach the patient and caregiver how to use the pulse oximeter.
Home Isolation Kit
CHIBP also provides a Home Isolation Kit to the patient. The kit includes:
- 1 L of 70% alcohol
- 1 digital thermometer
- 5 pcs of face masks
- 1 pulse oximeter
The kit also has medicines and vitamins, including:
