Despite the lockdowns, cases of COVID-19 are still on the rise. This is also the reason why the rollout for the vaccine needs to happen quicker. Thankfully, there is news of 37,000 vaccination slots available in various vaccination centers in Quezon City.
37,000 Slots Will Be Available in Vaccination Centers in Quezon City
The local government of Quezon City released a statement1 that slots will be opened up for citizens who haven’t been vaccinated yet. The mass vaccination will happen on September 23, Thursday.
Online booking will start on September 21, Tuesday, at 6:00 PM. Those interested can sign up for the vaccine by visiting https://qceservices.quezoncity.gov.ph/qcvaxeasy. On the website, people will be able to choose the time slot, as well as the most convenient vaccination center for them.
According to Mayor Joy Belmonte, “We hope that through this modification, we can reduce the number of defaulters or individuals who have been given slots by the city but don’t show up at the site because the time and date assigned to them doesn’t suit their schedule.”
She continues, “We must remember that our vaccines are sensitive. All allocated vaccines for the day must be used up so their integrity is not compromised by having to transport them back to the cold storage facility, then later to the site again.”
Those who missed their vaccine schedule have been a constant problem not just in Quezon City, but throughout Metro Manila. Some have cited that the scheduled time is inconvenient as they have work. Others are waiting for specific vaccines, while some don’t want to get vaccinated at all.
Hopefully, through the mass vaccination on Thursday, more people will be encouraged to get their first dose of the vaccine.

Why Should You Get The Vaccine?
The COVID-19 vaccine is the best way for us to be able to control the pandemic. If more people get the vaccine, the number of cases can significantly go down, and we can better control the spread of the virus.
The vaccines available in the Philippines are effective, and have been proven to lower the risk of severe COVID-19. In addition, the vaccines underwent through all the processes of clinical trials, which means that they are perfectly safe3.
Being vaccinated also lowers the risk that you would be infected with the virus. The fewer people get infected, the less the load there would be on our health system. It also means that cases can be better treated, and people can be immediately isolated if they do get infected4.
Herd immunity is another benefit if majority of the population get the vaccine. Herd immunity can provide protection to the most vulnerable members of the population, and also helps us control the spread of the disease5.
This is why it is important to get the vaccine as soon as you have the opportunity.
