Bright Green or Lime-Coloured Baby Poop

Bright Green or Lime-Coloured

Describe

Foremilk/Hindmilk Imbalance

If you notice bright green and frothy poop in your baby’s diaper, which looks almost like algae, he/she is probably getting too much foremilk – the low-calorie milk that comes first in a feeding – and not enough hindmilk, the higher-fat, super-nutritious stuff. This could mean that you’re not feeding her long enough on each breast.

What should I do?

To remedy this, start your next feeding, and all subsequent feedings thereafter, with the breast you ended with during the previous feed. Try to let your baby empty the first breast before you switch to the other side.
