Adrenal extract

Uses

What is adrenal extract used for?

Adrenal extracts are, as the name suggests, extracts derived from the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands used to make extracts are typically from bovine (beef) cattle sources. Extracts can be made using the whole adrenal gland or just the adrenal cortex.

The adrenal glands are endocrine organs, producing and releasing many essential hormones such as cortisol, aldosterone, steroids, norepinephrine, and epinephrine directly into the bloodstream.

Adrenal extract has the following uses:

  • Treat “adrenal fatigue”
  • Boost energy
  • Reduce inflammation

How does it work?

The exact mechanism of action of adrenal extracts are not known. Alternative medicine promotes the use of extracts to treat and prevent “adrenal fatigue.” However, this condition and the use of adrenal gland extracts have not been validated by conventional medicine.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
