Kaleorid® LP is commonly used for:
Kaleorid LP is available as an oral tablet. The oral tablet should be taken by mouth without chewing or crushing it.
This drug should be stored at room temperature (<30°C) and be protected from light and moisture. Do not allow this product to freeze. Always check the label before using this product. For safety, keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Do not use if the printed expiration date has passed, the product seal has been broken, or the product has changed in color, odor, or consistency.
Do not dispose of this product by pouring it down the drain, toilet, or into the environment. Ask your pharmacist regarding the proper way and location of disposal.
Before using this drug, tell your doctor if:
Can produce an excess of potassium in the bloodstream. To be used under regular medical supervision, incorporating blood-potassium level (kalaemia) monitoring and, if necessary, electrocardiography.

All drugs have the potential to elicit side effects even with normal use. Many side effects are dose-related and will resolve when it is adjusted or at the end of therapy.
Potential side effects while using this drug include:

Kaleorid® LP may interact with other drugs that you are currently taking, which can change how your drug works or increase your risk for serious side effects. To avoid any potential drug interactions, you should keep a list of all the drugs you are using (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products) and share it with your doctor and pharmacist. For your safety, do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any drugs without your doctor’s approval.
Especially if you are taking:
Kaleorid® LP may interact with food or alcohol by altering the way the drug works or increase the risk for serious side effects. Please discuss with your doctor or pharmacist any potential food or alcohol interactions before using this drug.
This drug should be taken with caution if you have any of the following conditions or risk factors:

To correct hypokalemia
As prophylaxis: 20 mEq daily.
As treatment: 40-100 mEq daily in 2-4 divided doses.
Maxiumum dose: 40 mEq/dose, up to 150 mEq daily.
All doses and treatment plans are individualized based on each patient’s serum potassium levels, as determined by a physician. Your dose may be different from what is outlined here. Consult with your doctor for more information.
To correct hypokalemia
As prophylaxis: 1 mEq/kg daily up to 3 mEq/kg daily.
As treatment: Initially, 2-4 mEq/kg daily up to 100 mEq daily.
Maxiumum dose: 1 mEq/kg/dose or 40 mEq/dose.

Kaleorid® LP is available in the following dosage forms and strengths:
In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services or go to your nearest emergency room.
If you miss a dose of Kaleorid® LP, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
