There are currently no studies that show whitening pills have a negative effect on breastfeeding women. However, doctors will always err on the side of caution and would advise you to take lightening (whitening) pills once you discontinue breastfeeding.
On the bright side, there are a lot of topical whitening lotions/cream that you may try that are safe for breastfeeding women. Active ingredients such as Niacinamide, Azaleic Acid, and even Glutathione are options you may want to consider.
