What is Jamaican dogwood used for?

Jamaican dogwood (Piscidia erythrina or P. piscipula) is a tree that originates from Central America, the West Indies, and the Gulf Coast of the United States. Rotenone is one of the active constituents of Jamaican dogwood and is used as a pediculicide and pesticide. In its raw or natural form, it is potentially toxic and should only be used with approval from your doctor.

Jamaican dogwood is traditionally used to:

  • Relieve headaches and migraines
  • Promote thermogenesis
  • Treat sleep disorders and anxiety
  • Reduce inflammation
